Program Overview- Evening MBA
The Evening MBA program is designed for individuals who seek to enhance
their managerial skills, performance level and opportunities for career
growth, whether they want to advance more rapidly in their present
profession or begin a new career. The Evening MBA emphasizes the
development of a wide range of business and management knowledge and
skills.
Our program strives to provide students with an interactive classroom
environment. Students are required to have professional work experiences
(our students have been working for anywhere from three to 25 years in
all areas of profit and not-for-profit organizations) and are expected
to draw upon these experiences for class discussions and projects.
The evening program is designed to be completed in three years. This
assumes that students will take, on average, two courses each term and
one during the summer session each year. Students who wish to take
longer have up to six years to complete all degree requirements;
students who wish to accelerate their program of study can complete all
requirements in two years. During the first two thirds of the program,
the basic curriculum exposes students to all the functional areas of
business.
In the final phase of the program, students take courses in
strategic management and international business. As with all managerial
positions, teamwork and communication skills (both written and oral) are
integral parts of the program.
The School of Business has
implemented team projects into the majority of its courses. These team
projects necessitate the need for additional meetings outside of class
to complete assignments.
During the final year, students have the option of choosing an elective
track from the areas of marketing (temporarily suspended), finance, information technology management and management or choosing courses from a wide array of current
elective topics.
We truly try to foster a friendly, nurturing environment for our
students. The evening MBA students have a computer lab that is
accessible on nights and weekends. Additionally, one week each semester
a "Class Breaks" reception is held. When classes are given their
midpoint breaks, all students and faculty are invited to network and for
refreshments. Seminars are offered to help with class and curriculum
choices. Guest speakers from different industries are brought into
individual classes and to the School of Business. Graduating students
celebrate their achievements with a special reception and participate in
our Graduate Graduation Ceremonies.
The evening program has its own newsletter, The Link, highlighting
faculty profiles and programmatic offerings, keeping our busy
professional students connected to the Business School, their faculty
and each other.
