Two years ago, our country experienced a crisis unlike any other in its history. The events of that day will remain with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to our UAlbany family members and others affected by this tragic event. We remember UAlbany alumni lost to us in the September 11, 2001 tragedy:
Jon L. Albert, 1977 - BS Mathematics
46, Jon worked for Marsh & McLennan as Vice President of Information Technology on the 96th Floor of World Trade Center 1. Jon was a board member of the Nyack-Valley Cottage Little League and the Director of the International League Division. Jon was a warm, compassionate family man, who was also deeply committed to the community. Survived by his wife and two sons.
James G. Smith, 1979 - BS Business Administration
James worked for Cantor Fitzgerald located in the World Trade Center. He is survived by his wife.
Karen H. Schmidt, 1980 - BS Interdisciplinary
Karen died September 11th on the 83rd floor of Tower Two of the World Trade Center. She was employed by IQ Financial Systems as a software engineer. IQ lost four employees on Sept. 11th.
Jeffrey L. Fox, 1982 - BS Accounting
Chief Financial Officer, Keefe Bruyette & Woods, Inc. Survived by his wife Nancy Bayuk Fox and their three children.
John P. Lozowsky, 1986-87 - General Studies
45, was presumed dead after the September 11 terrorist attack on 1 WTC, where he worked on the 95th floor. Born in Alexandria VA, he attended University at Albany from 1986 to 1987. He was contracted by Marsh & McLennan. He was employed as an archivist with the National Archives in New Zealand and also worked for the New Zealand Treasury and Ministry of Health. He was an Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife, Alison and son Max.
Scott M. McGovern , 1987 - BS Business Administration
Scott McGovern worked for Eurobrokers, Inc., which was located on the 84th floor of WTC South Tower. Until recently, he had worked for the brokerage firm of Cantor Fitzgerald. Scott�s beloved memory lives on in the many family members and friends who survive him, including his wife Jill and daughters Alana, 4, and Nicole, 2. Clyde Frazier, 1988 - BA Africana Studies
41, Clyde worked for the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance. Clyde was a Commissioner for SlamJam women's basketball league and had coached the intramural Asubettes for UAlbany. Michael T. Wholey, 1988 - BA Political Science
Michael was a Port Authority Police Officer and was killed in the line of duty at the WTC during the 9/11 attack. Michael at one time was assigned to LaGuardia, but transferred to the Port Authority Trans Hudson command. He was a dedicated, conscientious and valued member of this command.

Michael Lynch, 1990 - BA Political Science
Michael is a NYC firefighter, Ladder 4 has been reported missing in the World Trade Center attack.
See-wong Shum, 1990 - MBA
44 is survived by his wife - Rebecca Shum, son - Leon Shum, 6 years old, daughter - Chanel Shum, 3 years old. See-wong Shum worked for New York Metropolitan Transport Council, 82 Fl, One WTC, (north building). Donations can be made to the See-Wong Shum Family Relief Fund, P.O. Brooke David Rosenbaum, 1991 - BA Psychology
31, Brooked worked as a Manger of International Settlements at Cantor Fitzgerald. Survived by his mother Dorothy Burke. At Brooke's memorial service, many friends and co-workers described Brooke as an "enchanting nice man". Ms. Burke encourages Brooke's classmates to contact her at 561-434-8413.
Stephen Vincent Mulderry, 1992 - BA Rhetoric & Communications
He moved to New York after graduating from The University at Albany. Mulderry was on the junior varsity squad of UAlbany basketball team and varsity level as a sophomore. He finished his college career seventh on the school's all-time assists list with 325 and fourth in assist average at 4.27 per game. For the last five years, he worked as vice president of equity trading for Keef, Bruyette & Woods.
Shawn Bowman, 1994 - BS Business Admin, 1996 - MBA
Shawn was working Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th Fl. WTC. A memorial service was held for him in Staten Island, NY. Shawn was a chartering member of the Alpha Phi Omega chapter at UAlbany.
Taimour Khan, 1994 - BA Economics
Taimour Khan, 29, of NYC worked on the 92nd floor of the north tower as a commodity futures trader for Carr Futures. Born in Pakistan, he and his family moved to Long Island when he was 2 months old. He started working for Carr after graduating from UAlbany, where he was president of the economics society.
Joseph Maffeo, 1994, BA Geographical Information and Spatial Analysis
30, Joseph was a NYC Firefighter, Ladder 101, Brooklyn and responded to the call to the World Trade Centers the morning of 9/11 while on duty. Joseph is survived by his wife and son. Also surviving are his parent and four sisters.
Elizabeth Darling, 1996 - BA Sociology
Elizabeth, 28 years old, was working as a Business Analyst for Marsh McLennan in WTC#1. She is survived by her 2 year old son, Michael.
John A. Reo, 2000 - BA Economics
John, 28, graduated from the University at Albany after attending the University of Notre Dame. He moved to Larchmont, Westchester County from Troy and started work in May as a bond trader for Cantor Fitzgerald LP on the 104th floor of the north tower of the World Trade Center. Mr. Reo was the son of Troy schools Superintendent Armand Reo.
