UAlbany Advertising Campaign and Annual Report Capture National Awards

ALBANY, N.Y. (March 8, 2002) - The University at Albany and marketing
partner Oberlander Design have won awards for an advertising campaign
in the 17th Annual Advertising Awards conducted by the Admissions
Marketing Report, the national newspaper of admissions marketing.
The awards include a Gold Award in the Magazine Advertising Series;
a Bronze Award in the Newspaper Advertising Series, a silver medal in
the TV spot category and a Merit Award for UAlbany's Annual Report.
The advertising campaign showcases UAlbany's strengths in research
and teaching, and highlights faculty members and their involvement in
UAlbany's academic programs. The ads appeared in such publications as
The New York Times, Time and U.S. News and World Report.
Each of the ads features a different faculty member and their unique
contributions to UAlbany and carries the tagline - "Extraordinary Research.
Extraordinary Teaching." Featured UAlbany faculty include: William Kennedy,
Pulitzer Prize winning novelist and founder of The New York State Writers
Institute; Alain Kaloyeros, executive director of the Institute for
Materials and founding dean of the School of Nanosciences; Judith Langer,
director of the National Research Center on English Learning & Achievement
and professor of Education; Edna Acosta-Belen, professor of Women's
Studies and director of the Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies
and James Jaccard, distinguished professor of psychology and researcher
of adolescent development.
The University at Albany President's Annual Report, 2000-2001,
highlighted "Changing Landscapes" in a report on major campus developments
and accomplishments in the context of the University's goals for the
future. The report is distributed to higher education, governmental
and business leaders, donors and friends of the University.
