ALBANY, N.Y. (April 19, 2004) - Fountain Day,
the University at Albany's annual rite of spring
when the main fountain on the campus podium is
turned on for the season, will be held on Thursday,
April 22, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on the uptown campus.
The countdown to turning on the fountain will
begin at 12:15 p.m. The festivities are free and
open to the public.
Thousands
of students, faculty and staff typically attend
this UAlbany student-sponsored event, which began
in 1978 as Human Awareness Program day. Interim
President John R. Ryan will be on hand to throw
out the "First Frisbee" of the season.
In addition, there will be free caricature drawings,
a digital photo booth, a banner contest and more.
The event is sponsored by UAlbany's Division
of Student Affairs, Office of Student Activities,
Residential Life, and the classes of 2004, 2005
