I retired from the Economics Department at the University
at Albany in 2023. I worked in macroeconomics with a strong emphasis on
international issues. My research focused on monetary and fiscal policies,
and on causes of international financial crises including currency crises,
private debt crises, and sovereign default. I taught macroeconomics and
