`Salvatore Labaro is a graduate student in the Sociology Ph. D. program at the State University of New York at Albany university center. A graduate of the college honors program of SUNY Albany, where he obtained his bachelor degree, he went on to become a fully certified and licensed public school teacher with a degree in bilingual education from Pace University, NYC. Salvatore is a proud 2001 alumnus of Teach For America and spent nearly 5 years teaching elementary and middle school students Spanish, ESL and algebra in the Bronx and in Harlem. His sociological interests include racial and ethnic demography, especially where these intersect with the social institution of education. He is interested in cross-cultural studies of race and ethnicity and is capable of conducting research in Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and English, being formally educated and fluent in each of these respective languages. Ultimately, he will be a full time college professor and researcher studyingissues of globalization and racial hierarchies, as well as how educational attainment relates to the increasing socio-economic inequalities emerging across the globe. His hobbies include Seido karate, classical piano and swimming.
