I
am an associate professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Epidemiology and
Biostatistics within the School
of Public Health of University at Albany,
SUNY. Following his doctoral training at the
Pennsylvania State University, I did a postdoctoral fellowship at the
Department of Health Care Policy, Harvard Medical School. I previously worked
as a statistical advisor at the Institute for Health Policy at the
Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. During this time, I was awarded a fellowship by the American Statistical Association
and the National Center for Health Statistics to develop and disseminate
methods for handling item nonresponse in complex sample surveys. I also
taught at the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Massachusetts,
Amherst.
My research is largely centered around missing
data in complex data structures and on measurement error. Substantive issues in
health services research, prevention research and more general public health
problems motivate my statistical research agenda. Some of the other research topics include computational
algorithms and software development, hierarchical and latent variable models,
models and methods for response errors and applied Bayesian statistics. To date
I have published close to 50 research articles in refereed journals including
Journal of the American Statistical Association, Statistics in Medicine, The
American Statistician and Medical Care. I have also been PI and Co-PI on
numerous research grants funded by NIH, CDC and NSF.
