Career Outcomes

Earning your BSN puts you on a path to advance your career. Many healthcare settings are actively seeking BSN graduates, including in the public health field. Your bachelor's coursework will build upon your foundation in nursing, providing you with the ability to apply public health knowledge and contribute to leadership in the healthcare field, either in your current workplace or in a new position.

With your bachelor's degree in nursing, you can work in a variety of roles in inpatient and outpatient settings, including healthcare foundations, community organizations and federal agencies. In addition, earning your BSN qualifies you to pursue advanced nursing degrees and specializations such as Nurse Practitioner (NP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

Nationally, over 50% of nursing jobs require a BSN, and here in New York, you are required to obtain your bachelor's within 10 years of initial licensure in order to maintain your status as a registered professional nurse in the state.
