New Student Orientation
Welcome new students and families! The University at Albany offers a two-phase Orientation program for all new students: Connection Day and Welcome Week Orientation. Newly deposited students will be able to register for Orientation beginning in early April.
Please see our First-Year, Transfer, and Families & Supporters webpages for more information.
Our Mission
Orientation supports the transition of new and continuing students at UAlbany. During this exciting new chapter, we will be here every step of the way to connect you and your family with the resources you need to be successful.
Through Orientation and other programs, we will help you adjust to the social, cultural and academic aspects of the university.
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging
Orientation is committed to fostering an environment that promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in all of our programs and activities.
We aim to acknowledge, celebrate, and increase the diversity that is reflected on many levels of our campus, with respect to ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, religion, ability, age, socio economic means, veteran status, intellectual background and life experiences. Diversity of individual backgrounds and points of view will be affirmed and respected. Discriminatory language or actions will not be tolerated.
Orientation creates a culture of respect by speaking out against injustices faced by marginalized groups. A culture of respect will foster community among all students on their path to Connect, Explore, and Be a great Great Dane.
