The First-Year Experience (FYE) gives you a personalized academic experience through small class sizes, faculty relationships, personal advising and peer mentors. As a first-year student, you will develop skills to help you achieve your academic goals.

Once you’ve submitted your deposit, you’ll be able to register for Orientation in April or May. All incoming first-year and transfer students are required to complete a two-phase program designed to support your transition to UAlbany.
You’ll have the opportunity build connections with your peers and learn about campus resources you need to be successful.
Your advisor is here to support you throughout your entire time at UAlbany. They will create your schedule for your first semester and you’ll meet with your advisor during Great Dane Connection Day and Welcome Week.
During your time here, University Advisors can help you achieve your academic and career goals, assist with access to campus resources, connect with other offices and help grow your support network at UAlbany.
When you live on campus, you’ll be a part of a highly engaged and academically motivated community. Residential Life can provide you with a variety of housing options and assist you with the housing application process.
In addition, they work closely with our Living-Learning and Transfer Communities.
