Influence Policy for Gender and Racial Equality

Learn how to analyze the movements spurred by social injustices and implement best practices for advocacy within and across national borders.

From feminist activism and anti-racist organizing to LGBTQ+ rights and class equity, you will gain the global and cultural skills and training to apply diversity, inclusion and internationalization at the intersections of race, class, gender, sexuality and nationality differences.  

This program is ideal if you’re an international student or a professional already working in the arenas of non-profit work or policy. As a part-time fully online program, you will have the flexibility to access course materials, discussion forums and assignments during times that fit your schedule.

 

Program of Study

Choose three of the following courses:

  • Situated Sexualities and Transnational Activism
  • Gender, Development, and Feminist Economics
  • Race, Gender, and Cultural Politics in the Asian Diaspora 
  • Feminist Thought and Public Policy
  • Environmental Justice: Racism, Classism, Sexism
  • Transformative Storytelling for Social Change
  • Black Diasporas, Feminisms, and Sexual Politics
  • Digital Cultures, Global Circuits, and Feminist Futures
  • Topics in Women's Studies 

You can complete this certificate program as a standalone credential, or you can gain the equivalence of 9-12 elective credits toward the master's program in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies. These credits may also be transferrable to other graduate areas including public policy; political science; law; social welfare; education; anthropology; sociology; history; Africana studies; Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latino studies; English; languages, literatures and cultures; and geography and planning.
