The Master's degree programs are competitive and selection of participants will be made after multiple reviews of credentials which may include an on-campus interview in either March or April. Elements contributing to selection include: undergraduate (typically 3.0 or better)/graduate grade point average, interviews, the applicant's written questionnaire response, and letters of recommendation regarding their academic abilities and child interaction skills. In addition, certified teachers applying to the program must submit their New York State Teacher Certification Examination scores.
Diversity among student backgrounds and views is desired. To this end, the admissions committee also considers applicants' accomplishments and personal qualities as reflected in their application statement and recommendations.
Students are usually admitted to begin the program in the summer session. Please contact the special education office for more specific admission information. Applications should be submitted by March 1st.
