MFA Candidates Making Art
For the past twenty years, each fall and spring, the University at Albany Art Museum, and the Department of Art, have put together an exhibition of the works of UAlbanys MFA candidates. In our minds, these exhibitions represent two things, the end of a long and laborious journey to self-discovery for the MFA artist, and the beginning of a new life as an independent artist in the world, says Jason Stewart, interim director of the University Art Museum.

This fall there are three candidates, Lisa B. Coulson, Warren MacMillan and Bonnie J. Tatro, who have prepared exhibits that complete their 60 hours of credit studies. After the studio visits are made, the artists statements and resumes reviewed and edited, the brochures sent to the printers, the Museum is ready to install their work in a way that best communicates to the viewer the artists intent. Their collective works, approach in different ways, processes in new media, installation, and the more traditional methods of art making.
