Acclaimed theatrical artists and teachers will be appearing at UAlbany�s Performing Arts Center this semester as special guests of the Department of Theatre. Samuel Buggeln, Mary Henderson, Constance Hoffman, Richard Russell Ramos, Jackie Roberts and Ingrid Sonnichsen will lend their formidable theatrical talents to challenge, excite, educate and entertain through lectures, performances, courses and guest directing.
Actress and playwright Jackie Roberts is a professor of drama and literature at the University of San Diego. She visits UAlbany this month and gives a public lecture and reading of her modern comedy Lick o� the Knife which pays homage to the blood and thunder of Thomas Kyd�s The Spanish Tragedy. Roberts� acting credits include work on The West Wing, ER and The Steve Harvey Show as well as San Diego-area theatre companies.

Samuel Buggeln |
Guest director Samuel Buggeln will be in residence on campus for two months as he directs UAlbany�s Department of Theatre�s production of David Ives� All in the Timing. Originally from Canada and now living in New York City, Buggeln regularly directs at the Ohio Theatre where he is artistic associate of that theatre�s Obie-winning resident company Soho Think Tank.
Three special theatre courses will be taught throughout the semester. In March Broadway actor and director Richard Russell Ramos will teach a musical theatre course, costume designer Constance Hoffman will conduct special workshops and Ingrid Sonnichsen from Carnegie Mellon�s department of drama will conduct a workshop in period acting styles and Shakespearean acting techniques.

Mary C. Henderson |
In April Mary C. Henderson, a noted American theatre historian, author and Tony award nominator, will give the annual Burian Lecture on the topic �Confessions of a Tony Nominator: Two Decades of New York Theatre.� Henderson�s lecture on April 27 is cosponsored by the New York State Writers Institute and is funded by the Jarka and Grayce Susan Burian Endowment.
