UAlbany Academics in Focus: Computer Science
UAlbany's Department of Computer Science equips students with a strong foundation in software development and advanced use of technology. The department, one of the major components of the College of Computing and Information, prepares students for careers in software development, information technology management and/or computer/network security. Classes like social robotics, provide students with the vast knowledge and skills necessary to pursue diverse opportunities available to them in the field.
"Computer science impacts almost every aspect of our current lives: Our phones, our TVs, our homes, our cars," said Associate Professor and Chair George Berg. "The software and the hardware drive our everyday existence."
“Computer science students at UAlbany are diverse thinkers, creative, strong in math and programming, and enjoy working toward goals both individually and as part of larger team," said Maria Panayotou of advisement services. “These skills are aligned with the needs of employers, who are looking for students and workers who have computer skills, but can also be multifunctional in their job roles."
