Academics in Focus: Accounting Program at UAlbany's School of Business
The University at Albany Accounting Department maintains close ties with both alumni and employers to ensure that its program reflects the skills most important to the accounting profession. The department, part of UAlbany’s School of Business, offers specialized study in corporate financial reporting, taxation, and accounting information systems.
Graduates of the accounting program are exceptionally well prepared for careers in public accounting. University at Albany students have traditionally achieved a nearly 100 percent passing rate for the CPA exam, and have regularly scored high enough to place UAlbany among the top five schools in one or more parts of the exam. UAlbany students are strongly recruited by large national, regional and local accounting firms including the Big Four. Graduates also pursue careers in corporate settings, state government or seek advanced degrees in business, accounting or law.
UAlbany’s School of Business also holds the elite distinction of dual accreditation in both its business administration and accounting programs by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Fewer than 2 percent of the world's 13,000 business schools hold a dual AACSB accreditation in business administration and accounting.
