Study Finds Racial Disparities in use of Blood Transfusion in Major Surgery
A study found black patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery had a 41 percent higher odds of receiving perioperative RBC transfusion and blacks undergoing total hip replacement had 39 percent higher odds of transfusion. -
Rockefeller College Honors Seven at Annual Alumni Dinner and Awards Ceremony
UAlbany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy honors alumni exemplars, including Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the World Trade Organization, a former chief of staff to a U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, and the regional CEO of the American Red Cross Northeastern NY at its annual alumni ceremony on May 16.

Kathryn Fanning, who graduates May 18, led UAlbany's Great Danes to seven America East Conference track titles, notching multiple school distance records along the way. Thompson Brothers Share Tewaaraton Player of the Year Honors
UAlbany men's lacrosse stars Miles and Lyle Thompson became the first co-winners of the Tewaaraton Award, the sport's version of the Heisman Trophy. The trophy, given to the best player in the nation, was awarded Thursday night at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian.
