Ten UAlbany Students Recognized with Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence
ALBANY, N.Y. (April 3, 2015) – Ten students from the University at Albany are among 256 SUNY students honored by Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher as recipients of the 2015 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence was created in 1997 to recognize students who have best demonstrated and been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with accomplishments in the areas of leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts, campus involvement, or career achievement.

The following UAlbany students are recipients of the 2015 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence:
• Francis Agyemang, a human biology major from the Bronx, N.Y.
• Rose Avellino, a public policy major from Fayetteville, N.Y.
• Derek Ellis, a criminal justice and sociology major from Glenville, N.Y.
• Peter Hooley, a journalism/psychology major from Australia.
• Frank Mota, a biology major from New York, N.Y.
• Kelsey O’Leary, a biology and psychology major from Arlington, Mass.
• Stephane Owusu-Sarpong, a biology major from Valley Stream, N.Y.
• Lee Stanton, a political science major from Greenwood Lake, N.Y.
• Fathima Zarook, an accounting and business major from Altamont, N.Y.
• Jamie Zieno, a political science major from Norwich, N.Y.
The awards were presented at the Empire State Plaza on April 2.
