UAlbany Celebrates 2015 Spring Commencement May 15-17
More than 3,300 students are expected to participate in the University at Albany’s 171st Commencement ceremonies, Friday, May 15, through Sunday, May 17.

UAlbany Sweeps America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships
The University at Albany track and field program continued its league dominance, claiming the men’s and women’s 2015 America East Outdoor Track Championship titles at the Great Danes’ University Field, May 2-3. -
Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Represent UAlbany in NCAAs
For the first time in Division I history, the University at Albany men’s and women’s lacrosse teams both earned trips to the NCAA Tournament. The men through an automatic bid, the women through UAlbany’s first Division I at-large bid. -
University Awards 14 Research Projects Driving Innovation
Fourteen research projects directed by University at Albany faculty, whose expertise encompasses a wide range of academic disciplines, are awarded the first grants of the University’s Presidential Initiatives Fund for Research and Scholarship to support new and innovative research that may lead to large-scale investigator awards. -
Four Cities & UAlbany Kick Off Effort to Combat Urban Blight with NY Department of State Local Government Efficiency Grant
The cities of Schenectady, Troy, Amsterdam and Gloversville, plus UAlbany’s Center for Technology in Government, kick off a pilot program to allow critical information sharing of data so communities can take proactive steps to combat urban blight. The effort is funded by a $558,000 grant from New York's Department of State. -
University at Albany's Kamiar Alaei to Receive Ellis Island Medal of Honor
Kamiar Alaei, M.D., the founding director of the Global Institute for Health and Human Rights at the University at Albany, will be awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor on Saturday, May 9, at a ceremony at Ellis Island. -

A University at Albany senior who graduates Sunday, May 17, has overcome more adversity than most people see in a lifetime. A resilient Cedric Walton has beaten lung cancer and homelessness, and is on his way to grad school, thanks to the support and encouragement of UAlbany's Educational Opportunity Program.

Rockefeller College Graduate is Changing His Game
Matt Lowney was playing professional football when a shoulder injury ended his career. Suddenly having to shift gears, Lowney decided to pursue a master’s degree in public administration from Rockefeller College. He graduates on May 16 with a job in hand from the Government Accountability Office in Washington, D.C. -
2015 AT&T Tech Valley Civic App Challenge Announces Winners
Winners of the two-month “virtual hackathon” were announced May 14 at UAlbany by AT&T, along with community partners. The competition challenged local developers, entrepreneurs, designers, makers, and technologists to build smartphone apps that address the societal and civic issues in the greater Tech Valley community. -
IIE, UAlbany Convene Workshop on U.S.–Iran Academic Partnerships in Public Health and the Medical Sciences
In support of increasing academic ties between the United States and Iran, the Institute of International Education and the University at Albany have convened a one-day workshop on May 13 to facilitate groundbreaking higher education dialogue between the two countries.

UAlbany’s CTG is Lead Partner in Increasing Capability of Government Leaders in Egypt
