UAlbany Garners Four 2014-15 SUNY Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Awards
State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher announced today 80 recipients of the 2014-15 Scholar-Athlete Award, which recognizes outstanding academic excellence and athletic achievement. The University at Albany’s John DeLallo, Laini Leindecker, John Maloney, and Sam Rowley received four of the 19 Division I awards.

Joseph A. Brennan, Ph.D., A.P.R., Named UAlbany Vice President of Communications and Marketing
UAlbany President Jones today announced that Joseph A. Brennan, Ph.D., A.P.R., will join the University as vice president for communications and marketing, effective August 10, 2015. Brennan comes to UAlbany from the University of Iowa, where he has served as vice president of strategic communications since 2013.

Study: Mixtures of Common Chemicals May Increase Cancer Risk
Amid a global cancer epidemic, a task force of 174 scientists from research and medical institutions in 28 countries including UAlbany’s School of Public Health, concluded that average daily exposure to mixtures of chemicals might increase the risk of cancer beyond the risks from individual chemicals on their own. -
UAlbany Recognized with Four SUNY Health Network of Excellence Grants
University at Albany researchers have been chosen as co-recipients on four of the six State University of New York Health Network of Excellence grants announced today. The four awards, which provide a total of $600,000 in funding, aim to break new ground in critical areas including biotechnology, life sciences and public health.
