School of Education Faculty Named Journal Editors

ALBANY, N.Y. (March 29, 2016) – Professors Virginia Goatley and Kelly Wissman will extend their expertise in education to posts at leading industry scholarly journals.
Virginia Goatley, professor and chair of Literacy Teaching and Learning, has been selected as an associate editor of the Journal of Literacy Research, a publication of the Literacy Research Association and a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal publishing research on literacy, language, and literacy and language education from preschool through adulthood.
Goatley is collaborating with an editorial team from the University of Texas-San Antonio and serving a three-year term which began in December 2015. Journal of Literacy Research publishes four issues per year.
Kelly Wissman, associate professor of Literacy Teaching and Learning, has been selected as incoming co-editor of Language Arts, a publication of the National Council of Teachers of English and the leading journal in the teaching of language arts at the elementary and middle school levels.
Wissman joins three other co-editors from across the country - each with a term of five years. The team began its editorship in the summer of 2015 and expects its first issue to be published in September 2016. Language Arts has 6,000 subscribers and publishes six issues per year.
