ALBANY, N.Y. (March 31, 2016) - World-renowned Vietnamese and Thai chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author Mai Pham will meet and greet patrons and sign copies of her book, The Pleasures of the Vietnamese Table, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 7 in the Campus Center Patroon Room.
Mai Pham, who is featured on the Food Network, will be opening her famed restaurant concept Star Ginger in the West Addition of the UAlbany Campus Center in Spring 2017. She is the owner/chef of two owned and 13 license restaurants nationwide and currently has seven additional license locations under development.
At the book-signing event, Pham will give the campus a sneak peek of her cuisine by offering recipes from her cookbook, including grilled lemongrass coconut chicken, tomato lime leaf sambal, and steamed Asian greens with shiitake mushrooms.
In addition, the first 30 customers to arrive at her event will receive an autographed copy of The Pleasures of the Vietnamese Table. A student raffle is also being held at each resident dining room. Registered students can enter to win by going to any dining room greeter station. Ten students (two per quad) will win autographed books and a free lunch at the Patroon Room on April 7.
Great Dane Street Kitchen
The campus will also have access to a new food truck, the Great Dane Street Kitchen, which replaces the Guy Fieri truck.
Great Dane Street Kitchen will be available at Collins Circle, Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It features a South of the Border menu, with quesadillas, loaded chicken nachos, and burritos.
Live from UAlbany
On Saturday, April 16 and Saturday, May 7, stop by the Campus Center East Addition for entertainment from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Live from UAlbany. The Fountain Grill will offer $1, $2 and $3 specials during that time.
