Recycled Fashions Definitely In Style
ALBANY, N.Y. (April 11, 2016) — UAlbany students up-cycled reclaimed and recyclable materials into beautiful designs on April 7 at the annual Trashion Fashion show, sponsored by UAlbany Green Scene.
Participants created wearable works of art which had to be made from at least 50% recyclable or reclaimed materials — i.e., reused materials that would otherwise be thrown away or recycled. Contestants provided their own models, and the judging was based on overall creativity, construction, wearable quality, presentation on the runway, and attention to environmental sustainability.
Winners in five separate categories were:
- Best Quad Design: University Apartments
- Best Office Design: the Office of Sustainability
- Best Student Group Design: UAlbany Students for Sustainability
- Best Individual Design: Julia Salwa
- Fan Favorite: Indian Quad
