UCAN — and Alums Will Lend a Hand
This is the first of three videos highlighting the work of the UAlbany Career Advisory Network (UCAN). Part one provides an overview.
ALBANY, N.Y. (September 12, 2017) — With about 80% of jobs found through personal relationships, the UAlbany Career Advisory Network (UCAN), an online database that connects alumni professionals with current students for career advice and insights, can make a critical difference.
Many of the alums were once in similar situations as the current students. They can impart both the UAlbany resources available to current students and the right frame of mind needed to both overleap obstacles and enjoy the ride. The Alumni Association website has a list of more than 1,500 alum in a multitude of fields and positions for students to seek out.
UAlbany alums have shown they have a special feeling for their alma mater and in most cases love responding to the young people, who are now following in their footsteps and encountering experiences — both rewarding and challenging — on the way to academic and then career success. Some mentor relationships last years.
