UAlbany has education abroad opportunities in many countries, including Thailand, above.

ALBANY, N.Y. (Feb. 1, 2018) – Do you dream of studying abroad? Now is your chance.

More than 30 countries will be represented at the bi-annual UAlbany Education Abroad Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Lecture Center Concourse.

All students are invited, with the primary focus of the fair being on undergraduate opportunities. Faculty and staff are welcome to learn about the programs and other abroad opportunities too.

The spring fair’s focus is UAlbany-facilitated education abroad programs. It will also highlight faculty-led programs, such as the short-term spring break and summer programs, where students travel with UAlbany faculty and study a specific course topic.

New UAlbany in Madrid options for a semester or summer of study will be introduced, as well as the Global Distinction transcript milestone and fellowship opportunities, including the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.

Dean for International Education and Vice Provost for Global Strategy Harvey Charles said, “Many students tell us that studying abroad has been a transformative experience. To get out of your comfort zone, travel, and immerse yourself in another culture and language is to change the way you look at the world.”

“Hundreds of UAlbany students participate in our education abroad every year. We have programs in so many countries, from Morocco to Japan and from Italy to China,” said Associate Vice Provost for Global Academic Programs Carrie Wojenski. “We encourage students to stop by the fair, and to explore the many opportunities for study abroad, internships, service learning, volunteering and research around the world.”

While abroad, students choose to take major, minor, general education and elective courses, or opt to study something completely new.

“Multiple partial scholarships are available too, so don’t be stopped by the myth that you can’t afford to pursue a part of your UAlbany education abroad,” Wojenski said.

Applications for summer, fall and academic year programs are accepted until March 1. More information on how to apply to education abroad programs, the Global Distinction and fellowship programs is available.
