ALBANY, N.Y. (March 1, 2018) — How successful are our students after they graduate?

According to a survey of bachelor’s degree graduates from the Fall of 2015 and Spring of 2016, 94 percent are either employed, in graduate school or, in some cases, both.

Some 94 percent of UAlbany 2015-16 graduates are employed or in graduate school, a new survey shows.

The University’s Office of Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness, along with the Office of Student Affairs Assessment and Planning, conducted the survey to gather a wealth of data about the graduating class.

“We want our students to know that we care about what they do after they graduate from UAlbany," said Michael Christakis, vice president for Student Affairs. “Learning about their experiences is helpful information as we advise our current students and prepare them for life after graduation. It's also great to hear what our recent alumni are doing.”

The First Destination survey results were published Jan. 22. a study of more recent graduates — those earning bachelor’s in Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 — is also available online.

Results for the 2015-16 class show that 76.7 percent of respondents are employed or have accepted a position. Nearly 83 percent found jobs in New York State and 76.9 percent reported being satisfied or very satisfied with their jobs.

Some 61.9 percent of respondents are in graduate school or planning to attend graduate school (this number includes some graduates counted among the employed). More than 20 percent of graduates are choosing to continue their studies at UAlbany.

Other key findings from the survey:

• 75 percent of graduates were involved in community service while at the University
• 63.3 percent visited the Career Services Office
• 75.1 percent said that their education was worth the cost
• 75.9 percent said if they had it all to do over again, they would choose UAlbany
