2018 We Care
ALBANY N.Y. (May 1, 2018) — To cap off Sexual Assault Awareness Month, UAlbany and Albany Med students packed and delivered 300 "survival kits" in support of victims who have undergone forensic testing at Albany Med in the aftermath of sexual assault. They were joined by members of law enforcement, the medical community and the DA’s Office, as well as community organizations.
Their work was part of the fourth annual “We Care” event at the SEFCU Arena developed in partnership with UAlbany’s Equity, Compliance and Title IX Office and its Advocacy Center for Sexual Violence along with Albany Med and the SAFE (New York State Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner) Program.
Forming a human assembly line, they packed and passed kits including clothing, undergarments, toiletries, gift cards, a teddy bear and an encouraging note from the community into A Five Quad ambulance to be delivered to Albany Med.
The event is possible with support from Albany County District Attorney’s Office, Albany County EMS, Albany County Safe Harbour Program, Albany County Sheriff’s Office, CVS, Dunkin Donuts, Five Quad Ambulance, the Office of the Sheriff and Walmart.
