The Women's Softball team, fresh off becoming America East champions, reacts Sunday night to finding out they will be traveling to Eugene, Oregon, to play the number one team in the country on Thursday.

ALBANY, N.Y. (May 14, 2018) — UAlbany athletes will run, jump and play on this spring amid the very best of NCAA Division I competition. Joining the Great Danes of Men’s Lacrosse as America East (AE) Champions on Sunday was Softball, with a doubleheader victory over UMass Lowell.
That same day, Women’s Track & Field, already victorious the week before as AE champions for the 10th straight year, became the ECAC champion for the first time in its history.

Softball, watching the NCAA Tournament Selection Show Sunday night in the Campus Center, found out they will be travelling across country to Eugene, Ore., to play the number one team in the nation, the hosting University of Oregon Ducks, this Thursday at 8:30 p.m. in Eugene Regional.
Men’s Lacrosse, which won its opening round NCAA Tourney contest 18-9 over Richmond on Saturday night at home before 4,800 fans, will play the University of Denver on Saturday afternoon at Hofstra University on Long Island.
Both men’s and women’s track & field will have individual qualifiers for the NCAA Track & Field Championships, scheduled for June 6-9 at, coincidentally, the University of Oregon. The teams will find out who has qualified on Thursday.
Of the women’s ECAC victory on Sunday, Track & Field Director Roberto Vives said, “winning the ECAC Women’s Division I Track & Field Championship is a huge milestone for our program. There are over 80 member colleges in this competition from the ACC, Big 10, Big East, Ivy League, Patriot League, MEAC, MAAC, NEC, Atlantic 10, America East and the other top conferences.
“Congratulations to our coaches, staff and student-athletes for a tremendous year. We are looking forward to the NCAA Championships!”
