The Center for Public Health Continuing Education won a silver award in the 38th annual Telly Awards for its recent webcast.

ALBANY, N.Y. (June 13, 2018) – UAlbany’s Center for Public Health Continuing Education (CPHCE) won a silver award in the 38th annual Telly Awards.
The Center’s winning webcast, “The Impact of Social and Cultural Values on Breastfeeding Practice and Strategies to Address Disparities” is part of CPHCE’s Breastfeeding Grand Round series and marks their eighth Telly Award. Last year, the Center won for its monthly series, Public Health Live! on “Infection Disease: Recognize and Report.”
Breastfeeding Grand Rounds is an annual webcast sponsored by the School of Public Health in partnership with the New York State Department of Health Bureau of Supplemental Food Programs. This year’s winning webcast, which can be viewed here, focuses on the idea that the social context in which a mother gives birth and cares for her child affects whether she initiates and continues breastfeeding. Presenters describe strategies that have worked to change cultural norms and societal values in ways that positively affect breastfeeding rates among different U.S. groups and enhance its broader social acceptance.
The Telly Awards honor outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners “represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators and corporate video departments in the world.”
CPHCE provides education for the public health and health care workforce and is nationally recognized for distance learning training.
