Alumni Association Offers Scholarship Opportunities

ALBANY, N.Y. (Feb. 12, 2019) ̶ The University at Albany Alumni Association is offering eight scholarships, including three Spirit scholarships, for undergraduate and graduate students for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Alumni Association Spirit Scholarship ($1,333 each) will be awarded to three UAlbany students who demonstrate outstanding school spirit and commitment to the University and its students.
The Agnes E. Futterer Memorial Fellowship ($1,000) will be awarded to a UAlbany senior entering graduate study in theatre or a related field at UAlbany or any other accredited institution or recognized theatre program. The Theatre Alumni Association created the fellowship in memory of Futterer, professor of English and drama at UAlbany from 1917 to 1959.
The Albert N. Husted Fellowship ($1,000): Awarded to a UAlbany senior planning for full-time graduate study in any area of study at UAlbany or any other accredited university. Husted, a mathematics professor who taught until his death in 1912, is the namesake of Husted Hall on the Downtown Campus. An 1855 graduate of the State Normal School, he was a founder of the 44th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment, which saw action in 17 Civil War battles.
The Adna W. Risley Memorial Scholarship ($750): Awarded to a UAlbany senior or graduate student pursuing a graduate degree in history. Created in 1946, it honors Risley, a professor of history at UAlbany from 1909-1939.
The Class of 1972 Scholarship ($750): Awarded to a graduating UAlbany senior planning to enter full-time graduate study at UAlbany during the next academic year.
Bertha Brimmer Legacy Scholarship ($1,500): Awarded to a current or incoming legacy freshman or legacy transfer student. A legacy student is a child or grandchild of an alum. Brimmer, class of 1900, was an early executive director of the Alumni Association.
Scholarship applications are available online. Bertha Brimmer applications are due Feb. 22. All other applications are due March 1. For more information, contact the Alumni Association.
