ALBANY, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2019) – The UAlbany Innovation Center will host an ‘Innovation Showcase’ next month to help connect area startups with faculty and student researchers interested in commercializing their technology ventures.

The networking event will take place on Oct. 9 from 2-5 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room in the Campus Center.

The showcase is designed to help startup businesses from the Capital Region to share their products, services and technology with the campus community, according to Matt Grattan, director of economic development at UAlbany.

“Through the UAlbany Innovation Center, we are constantly seeking ways to bridge the divide between our local startup scene and our academic community here at the University, both of which have tremendous potential to serve and strengthen each other,” Grattan said. “The Innovation Showcase offers a unique chance to meet face-to-face with potential collaborators for research and business partnerships.”

All companies affiliated with the Center, Innovate 518 or Empire State Development’s START-UP NY Program are invited to participate, according to Bob Manasier, entrepreneur-in-residence for UAlbany.

Manasier said the event will also offer informational resources on technology licensing, regional incubation facilities and programs, procuring seed grant funding, and other educational and mentoring opportunities available through the Center.
