Service and Academics: Top graduates awarded for achievement

ALBANY, N.Y. (May 12, 2020) — President’s Award for Leadership and Spellman Award honorees – UAlbany’s top graduating seniors are being lauded for outstanding leadership and academic success.
“We recognize these students’ outstanding involvement in co-curricular activities, the leadership they’ve exhibited through these varied activities, and their commitment to our University,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Michael Christakis. “We honor their success and recognize their unique contributions to our campus community. Their ability to excel in and out of the classroom has everything to do with their hard work and perseverance and we’re delighted to be able to celebrate their remarkable efforts and thank them for enriching the University community through their talents and achievements.”
Haley Chesbro, Danielle Duiguid and Mark Katz all earned the Distinguished Scholar-Leadership Award for academic excellence, outstanding leadership and a commitment to serving others. Spellman Top Academic Awards went to Kimberly Chamorro-Perez, Alaina Hinkley, Selena Kattick, Oluwakemi Kehinde, William Mudd, Ian Pradhan and Matthew Ramos. Crystal Francis, Aleena Khan and Moises Urena were honored with the Spellman Leadership Award.
Some 105 students were named Outstanding Seniors for their overall contributions to the University.
Included among these outstanding students are UAlbany’s 11 winners of the Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence, SUNY’s highest academic honor.
Another 44 students won Presidential Achievement awards for contributions that enhance University life, including community service, academic excellence, leadership in fraternities and sororities, residential life and governance leadership.
Top senior award winners will be listed on the University’s graduation celebration page and all the awardees will be listed on the Student Affairs page.
