Hogarty Lecture to Present Cancer Control in the 21st Century

ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2020) – The School of Public Health will celebrate the 10th anniversary Hogarty Family Foundation Lecture virtually next week with a conversation about cancer control in the 21st century.
Dr. Otis W. Brawley, a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Oncology and Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University and former Chief Medical Officer at the American Cancer Society, will deliver the lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m.
Brawley is a world-renowned expert on cancer screening and prevention, and leads a broad research effort focused on cancer health disparities. His work is centered around how to close racial, economic and social disparities in the prevention, detection and treatment of cancer. He is a recipient of the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) Meritorious Service Medal, the Department of Defense Distinguished Service Award and the 2019 American Medical Association of Distinguished Service Award. He is also a member of the National Academy of Medicine.
Established through the generosity of Daniel J. Hogarty and the Hogarty Family Foundation, this annual lecture series is designed to provide information to the community about a broad range of topics related to cancer.
The virtual event is open to the community and free to attend, but registration is required. Instructions for accessing the lecture will be sent to all registered attendees via email.
