UAlbany CIO Honored as Best of New York for IT Leadership

Professor Gummer Mourned
School of Social Welfare Professor Emeritus Burt Gummer, 66, a nationally recognized scholar on social welfare administration, passed away June 30. Gummer, who retired in 2002 after 25 years of dedicated service as a faculty member, once chaired the undergraduate program and the management concentration. Full Story >>

Hitchcock Wins 2004 Bread & Roses Award

Outgoing President Karen R. Hitchcock received the 2004 Bread & Roses Award for her many contributions to gender equity at the University at Albany. A positive role model and an active supporter of the University�s women�s community throughout her eight-year tenure as president and her four-year tenure as vice president, she has provided for two Initiatives For Women (IFW) Presidential Awards. UAlbany Mourns the Loss of Susan Sherman

Susan R. Sherman
Nationally known gerontologist Susan R. Sherman, 64, died on June 3 of cancer. Until her retirement in 2003, Sherman was a distinguished service professor in the School of Social Welfare and the School of Public Health, as well as a faculty research associate of the University at Albany�s Institute of Gerontology, of which she was a founder and former director. She previously served as dean of the School of Social Welfare, was thesis adviser to about 15 Ph.D. students, and chaired the undergraduate program in social work for five years. She taught at the School of Social Welfare for more than 25 years. Full Story >>
