Giarrusso Named to New Position
Vice President for Finance & Business Kathy Lowery has announced the appointment of John Giarrusso as associate vice president for Finance and Business. In his new position, Giarrusso continues to have responsibility for capital and space budgeting and planning, but will also have responsibility for the physical plant, architecture, and engineering and construction management, as well as energy management.
Since joining the University in 1999, Giarrusso has been instrumental in developing and executing the academic and residence halls' campus capital plans, the campus space-planning process, and the many projects that emerged from these plans. He has also served as the interim director of operations for the East Campus. He has played a key role in many special initiatives, including the planning, financing, and construction of Empire Commons, University Hall, the Life Sciences Building, and the Gen*NY*Sis Center for Excellence in Cancer Genomics.
