Lynn Videka Earns SUNY's Highest Faculty Rank
The State University of New York officially
bestowed its highest academic honor —
appointment to the rank of the "Distinguished
Professorship" — upon University at Albany
professor of social welfare and Vice President
for Research Lynn Videka in ceremonies held Nov.
14 at State University Plaza.

Retired Faculty Drawn to Emeritus Center Opening
It was standing room only at the Nov. 1
opening of the University at Albany's Emeritus
Center. The center, located in University
Administration Building Room 134, is only the
second emeritus center in the entire SUNY
system, the first having been created at the
University of Buffalo many years ago.

Frank Thompson
Named Acting Provost
Officer in Charge Susan Herbst has announced
the appointment of Frank J. Thompson as acting
provost from January to June of 2007. Thompson
is former dean of the Rockefeller College of
Public Affairs and Policy.

Team Plans for Possibility of Pandemic Flu
Outbreak
It's that time of year again: Time for a flu
shot, that is.
The University at Albany held a flu vaccination
clinic at the Campus Center on Nov. 8; flu shots
are also being offered at doctor's offices and a
variety of places in the local community.

UPD Safety Fair Nov. 9
The University Police Department (UPD) is
offering a safety fair at Alumni Quad on the
downtown campus Nov. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the
Waterbury Hall cafeteria.

UAlbany Voter Registration Drive is Tops in SUNY
System
More than 2,500 University at Albany students,
the largest number at a State University of New
York campus, registered to vote during a
five-week SUNY-wide voter registration drive.
