UAlbany Hillel Students Travel to Israel
During Winter Break
Some 40 UAlbany students are attending a free, 10-day trip to Israel Jan. 6-16 through Taglit-birthright Israel and Hillel.
One of the students, Zakhar Berkovich of Staten Island, said, "The reason I am going to Israel is to discover the past and to understand better what I am currently learning about. I feel that every person should visit this unique country. The beauty and history are amazing and will remain in my memory for a very long time."
UAlbany Hillel's winter 2007 trip, underwritten by Taglit-birthright Israel, offers Jewish college students the opportunity to have fun with students from their own campus while touring the country's most popular contemporary and historic sites. The itinerary includes Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and the Dead Sea.
Aviva Snyder, director of Jewish Student Life for UAlbany Hillel, said the trip will enrich the students' understanding of Israel and their Jewish identity. "Students consistently come back from birthright in love with and invested in Israel," she said.
