Distinguished Professor Joachim Frank Delivers Lecture on the Wondrous Ribosome

ALBANY, N.Y. (March 5, 2008) – University at Albany biologist Joachim Frank will deliver the Distinguished Professor lecture, "The Ribosome: Restless, Wondrous, Protein Factory in the Cell." The lecture will take place at D’Ambra Auditorium, Life Sciences Research Building on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 4 p.m.A biomedical sciences professor in the School of Public Health since 1986, Frank was elected both to the National Academy of Sciences as well as the American Academy of Arts & Sciences in April 2006.
Frank is an investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute of the Wadsworth Center in Albany and a lab chief of the Laboratory for Computational Biology and Molecular Imaging. He was also honored with the University's Excellence in Research award in 2001.
Frank is the author of Three-Dimensional Electron Microscopy of Macromolecular Assemblies (2006) and editor of Engine Electron Tomography (2006).
