ALBANY, N.Y. (July 1, 2008) -- A University at Albany-SUNY senior assistant librarian and an associate professor of French studies recently collaborated to obtain a grant to acquire texts on Quebec.Jesus Alonso-Regalado of the University Libraries and Associate Professor of French Studies Eloise Briere of the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures obtained a $500 matching grant from the government of Quebec to help acquire additional Quebec texts for the library.
"The matching funds will be used to purchase important texts lacking in our collection and ones that have been published over the last three or four years, all of them related to literature, language, and culture in Quebec," said Alonso-Regalado. "Such an addition to the collection will enable those who focus on Quebec in their studies, teaching, and research to have access to books that are now either unavailable, or that must be obtained through interlibrary loan."
The University at Albany-SUNY libraries contain more than two million volumes and rank among the nation's top 100 research libraries.
