New York State Assembly Majority Leader Ron Canestrari and several members of the Capital Region Assembly Delegation join Interim President George M. Philip and other University leaders to dedicate UAlbany's new $4 million Grand Entry Plaza, a vibrant and inviting gateway and gathering place for visitors and the campus community. UAlbany welcomes students, faculty and staff back to campus for the fall 2008 semester with the entry plaza dedication celebration.
Assembly Majority Leader Canestrari and several of his colleagues in the Assembly will make a special announcement regarding future University projects.

Background:
The Grand Entry Plaza is designed to be a central gathering space for visitors and the campus community. The three-acre space features a park-like setting with expanded green space and ornamental trees. Central to the plaza is a walk-through fountain, as well as bench seating with Wi-Fi.
The project is part of a larger $25 million provision in the 2006-2007 New York State budget � secured through the help of New York State Assembly Majority Leader Ron Canestrari and the Capital Region Assembly Delegation.
