Prior to arriving at UAlbany, Miller was director of Digital Media Production for A&E Television Networks, where he was responsible for producing original video content for the Web sites of the History Channel, Biography Channel, and A&E. His work supported the network's most successful series and specials, including Ice Road Truckers, Ax Men, Criss Angel, and Intervention.
From 2001 to 2006, Miller was executive producer of On-Air Marketing for the National Geographic Channel (NGC), where he developed strategic creative advertising, promos, and video-related content, and contributed to branding efforts during the channel's inaugural year. At NGC he worked on marketing and promotion for the acclaimed series Explorer, National Geographic Presents, Living Wild, The Dog Whisperer. Miller also served on the video content development team for NGC Wild, the channel's broadband and video-on-demand initiative.
While working for PBS from 2000 to 2001, Miller was associate creative director of Primetime Programs, creating on-air promotion campaigns for high-profile documentary series and specials such as American Experience, Secrets of the Dead, Bill Moyers' On Our Own Terms, and American High.
From 1996 to 2000 Miller was writer/producer in the on-air promotions departments for Starz/Encore movie channels and KUSA-TV in Denver, Colo. While at KUSA, Miller wrote, produced, and directed Ocean Journey, a high-definition documentary short film for a world-class aquarium.
Miller began his television career in 1989 in the fan mail department at "The Oprah Winfrey Show." He was promoted to affiliate relations and later became a writer/producer in the on-air promotions department.
A native of Chicago, Ill., and a graduate of Roosevelt University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in English with honors, Miller now resides in Delmar, N.Y. with his wife and two sons.
