Background:
Kenneth O. Hall has served as governor general of Jamaica since 2006. Before his government post, he served as vice president of Academic Affairs at SUNY Westbury (1989-94) and as assistant provost at the State University of New York (SUNY) administration and SUNY Oswego (1982-89). In 1994 he assumed the position of deputy secretary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and in 1996 he became the pro vice chancellor and principal of the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies. The governor general's visit and lecture are sponsored by the University at Albany's nationally ranked Department of Africana Studies.
