President Philip, Mayor Jennings Join UAlbany Faculty to Welcome Class of 2014

ALBANY, N.Y. (August 24, 2010) -- President George M. Philip, B.A. '69, M.A. '73, Albany Mayor Gerald D. Jennings, M.S. '76, will join more than 20 UAlbany faculty members to greet the freshman class of 2014 on the podium near the lecture centers. They will experience a dress rehearsal of a classroom lecture and tips from faculty on how to succeed in the University classroom.
The event is designed to provide students with lessons for classroom achievement and a sampling of the world of academic knowledge and research opportunities the University offers through its nine schools and colleges. The "Explore UAlbany" program is held as freshmen settle in on their first full day. It introduces new students to the breadth of educational experiences available to them and sets the tone for academic success. Topics range from "The Founding Fathers Meet Grand Theft Auto" to "Nanobioscience: A New Frontier for Human Health."
