ALBANY, N.Y. (October 13, 2006) -- The University at Albany has received a $10,000 gift in support of Student Athletic Scholarships from KeyBank. The pledge was presented by Mike Orsino, president, Capital Region, KeyBank N.A., to Lee McElroy, vice president for athletic administration and director of intercollegiate athletics. The gift will be applied to the general scholarship fund in athletics.

"I'd like to extend our thanks to Mike Orsino and KeyBank for supporting the University at Albany," said McElroy. "Their gift will aid us in our efforts to expand opportunities for our student athletes, and help us raise the bar of our programs through scholarship support."

KeyBank's long and considerable relationship with the University includes the largest gift ever to the athletics program, a $250,000 donation in 2000 to support athletics scholarships, as well as a scholarship support gift in 2005.

"On behalf of KeyBank I offer my congratulations to the University at Albany community and wish the Great Danes even more success as they continue to make gains in their Division I athletics program," said Orsino. "I hope our contribution will benefit current and future students as they represent the University both on and off the field."
