From Moscow and New Delhi to Washington D.C. and New York City, Associate Professor Sanjay Goel, School of Business, has traveled the world emphasizing the importance of computer security in the face of identity theft, cyber terrorism and other cyber crime. His message is clear -- be aware of the dangers and protect yourself.

Goel will reiterate his message and raise awareness in the community during UAlbany Day on October 25. He will offer advice to the public on how to protect your computer from viruses, spyware, phishing scams and Internet predators. Goel's presentation is one of dozens of faculty demonstrations slated to be held throughout the day.

"People lose their identities everyday, but its something not everyone realizes can happen to them," said Goel, who is also director of Research at the New York State Center for Information Forensics and Assurance at the University. "The question is, how can you use the Internet safely and protect yourself, your kids and your family from these threats."

The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 10:45 a.m. and again at 1:45 p.m. in UAlbany's Arts and Sciences building, room 14. It is just one of the myriad activities and events during UAlbany Day, which will showcase to the community how the University puts the world within reach. UAlbany Day activities will highlight the richness of the University's academics, student success, and campus life. The day's events include faculty and student demonstrations, tours, a farmers' market, a basketball scrimmage, a tailgate party and the homecoming football game against the St. Francis Red Flash.
