JoAnne Carson: Rise Up and Shine! at Opalka Gallery
The Opalka Gallery in Albany is currently exhibiting a twenty-five year survey of the work of University at Albany studio art professor JoAnne Carson. There will be a reception on Friday, February 7, from 6-8 p.m., with an artist's tour at 5 p.m. There will also be an artist's lecture on Tuesday, February 18 at 6:30 p.m. The Gallery describes Carson's work: "From her punchy, exuberant paintings to her quirky, zoomorphic sculptures and expressive drawings, Carson has established a unique artistic voice that merges references to the natural world with strange juxtapositions, unexpected materials, and playfully dark moods."
Listen to her recent WAMC interview and read recent Art & Object blog about her work.
