About the Speakers

Rachel Hart-Malloy, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, University at Albany, State University of New York, and the Director of the Office of Sexual Health and Epidemiology, at the New York State Health Department’s AIDS Institute.
The overarching focus of Dr. Hart-Malloy’s work is sexual health, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV, and Hepatitis C virus (HCV) epidemiology, surveillance, evaluation, policy and programming. Her research has focused on mathematic modeling and epidemiologic methods to understand disease burden, evaluation of medical care and treatment, and implementing best practices.

Manjiri Joshi, MPH works as an Evaluation Specialist with AIDS institute at Office of Sexual Health and Epidemiology. She has her Master’s in Public health from University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her work at the AIDS institute focuses on conducing evaluation and research on Partner services and STI surveillance data. She has experience with data analytics, research, public health programming and surveillance.

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the uses of modeling to predict future STI morbidity during and after the COVID-19 pandemic
2. Summarize the impact of COVID-19 on STI reporting in New York State outside of New York City
3. Explain how modeling can help inform sexual health resource and program planning
