Love and Violence in a Gray Place, by Stuart Airlie.
VITRIOL
No tears; cheeks
Beg etching for completeness;
Love cries to be written.
No tears, love.
For the eyes that saw Love, what
Use? Light no longer pleases, nor
Shape. Silent inwardness
Suits Psyche well.
Where is passion better mapped
Than on that body, continent and
Destination of my will? And Love
Best inscribed on that parchment belly.
Then weep no more; for
Love will have his way,
Will unfold his tale in hot lines
Etched deep where he has passed.
