School of Public Health doctoral candidate Kamiar Alaei, M.D., left, and Arash Alaei, M.D., accept the Elizabeth Taylor Award from actress Sharon Stone at the XIX International AIDS Conference in Washington, D.C., July 21. The brothers – imprisoned in their native Iran in 2008 for treating and educating AIDS and HIV patients – are currently international education specialists at UAlbany. Both exemplify the many dedicated physicians and dentists who prepared for their careers, conducted research or supplemented their learning at the University.
