Information Technology Services (ITS)
Information Technology Services (ITS) provides access to a wide range of technology tools and services to support academic success.
• MyUAlbany is the gateway to web-based services for students. It is used it to manage classes, review financial aid and billing information, check grades and much more.
• The UAlbany App provides mobile access to check class schedules, grades and holds. Campus maps, transit and dining information, and details about campus activities, athletics and events are also available.
• UAlbany Mail accounts are automatically activated upon setting a password for the first time. The University communicates with students using the UAlbany email address, so check it often. UAlbany Mail can be accessed from MyUAlbany or any smartphone.
• Microsoft OneDrive, Office WebApps and Skype for Business are available to all students. These can be used to create, share and store documents and collaborate with others.
• Blackboard is available for online and face-to-face classes. It is used for assignments, discussion boards, class materials and posting grades. Blackboard can be accessed from any mobile device.
• The Information Commons (IC) offers computers, software, printing and help in all three University Libraries. A full suite of software is installed on PCs and Macs in these locations. Printers are available for use with the computers in the IC or a personal laptop. Student tech consultants are available in all locations.
• Microsoft Office 365 is available for free download on computers and mobile devices. Additional software applications are available for purchase. Follow the Technology Discount links in MyUAlbany for more information.
• Workshops are available to learn popular software applications including Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop Dreamweaver, security and more. Blackboard tutorials are also available.
• Security is an important part of protecting personal and electronic information. Always be careful opening attachments or email links. Passwords should never be shared with anyone.
